Andrew Roache worked as a veterinary surgeon in civilian practice and
the Royal Army Veterinary Corps before moving to Gloucestershire to
develop a garden for sculpture exhibitions.
While in the army he
trained as a sculptor under Les Johnson. He works primarily in clay, which he casts in iron resin limited editions. His preferred subjects
are animals and birds.
I have worked with animals for most of my life and that interest has
been reflected in my sculpture, a passion which I have been pursuing
for the last twenty years. I mostly model animals and birds in clay
which I then produce as limited edition iron resin casts. My work is
intended for outdoor display and I like the way that iron weathers
naturally. I hope that having editions in resin makes make work
accessible to most art lovers.
