The Cart Shed social enterprise started in October 2011 and engages people in nature. It uses the natural environment for the therapeutic and educational opportunities being in nature provides. Initially working with people who have mental health issues, and teenagers who didn’t engage with school, the project has recently expanded to offer its unique experience to anyone of any age who wishes to learn about being closer to nature, who wants to learn a skill or who simply wants to enjoy time with us.
The Cart Shed offers coppicing and green wood craft in the woods of Newport House and at Devereux Wootton Farm. It also offers ‘fun in the woods’ for children, and gardening courses conducted by the gardeners of Newport House.
