Self-taught artist, Jean Patrice Oulmont draws inspiration from a loving and careful observation of nature that he has explored since childhood. His work is a synthesis of his contemplation in which poetry, philosophy and natural science are combined. His non-figurative sculptures are born from his reveries and musings, but leave room for shared expression with the wood.
Jean Patrice Oulmont was born in 1953 in Grasse, France. In 1989, he moved to Carla-Bayle near the Pyrenees to work full time as a sculptor. An old farmhouse provides plenty of room for his studio and family.
My work offers opportunity for individual appreciation, interpretation and feeling. Reflection may occur later on. The observation of the tree serves as a shifting mirror to contemplate our human complexities.
