Food

Herefordshire is a bit of a foodie’s county – it prides itself on excellent home-grown meats, vegetables and dairy produce.

Just 3 minutes from Newport House, Almeley is home to The Bell's Inn, where Lisa and Jason run a great deli and serve light meals, cakes and home-made soups.

If you want a gourmet experience, you can try Michelin Star restaurants The Stag at Titley, 20 minutes away (tel: 01544 230 221).

Also in Ludlow by the river and open for lunch only, try the slow food Green Café (tel: 01584 879 872).

There is also the Riverside Inn in Aymestrey, 20 minutes away (tel: 01568 708 440).

There is also The Globe(tel: 01497 821 762), serving lunches, cake and drinks during the day, and often with good concerts on in the evening.
